Duffy Mahoney

Duffy Mahoney first arrived at USA Track & Field in September of 1989 as national teams manager, and is now the longest tenured employee within the national office. In the fall of 1994, he moved to director of operations and in July of 1999 he was promoted to the director of high performance programs, where he currently works to establish appropriate high performance, sport science and financial support programs for elite and developing athletes.

Prior to coming to USATF, Duffy worked as a teacher and coach of track and field, football and lacrosse at Long Beach H.S. in New York (1967-76 and 1978-80), coached the Saudi Arabia national track and field team (1976-78) and was the head coach of track and field at St. John’s University in New York (1980-88).

Duffy, a Bishop Loughlin Memorial H.S. 1962 grad, earned a bachelor’s degree in history and sociology from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., in 1967 where, as a walk-on, he earned a varsity letter competing on its track and field team.

A resident of New York’s Long Island for 43 years prior to moving to Indiana, Duffy lives in Indianapolis with his wife Dee and their two children, Meghan and Ryan. They enjoy vacationing around the U.S., Caribbean and Europe, and Duffy has traveled to 48 States in the U.S. and more than 40 countries around the world.
