Sharrieffa Barksdale joined the USATF staff in Indianapolis in 2016.

Sharrieffa Barksdale, a 1984 Olympian in the 400m hurdles, will take on the role of Manager, Alumni Relations.

Barksdale has been an active participant of the Alumni Association since 2000 and served as the Vice President before being elected as President in 2006.
She spent the last 11 years working with the Goodwill Industries in Lexington, Kentucky, where she provided counseling and advice to assist disabled, ex-offenders and disadvantaged people as they re-enter the workforce.

Barksdale was a standout athlete at Harriman High School (Harriman, Tennessee) and college at the University of Tennessee. She is a 12-time collegiate All-American, and was the first collegiate woman to run the 400 meter hurdles in under 55 seconds, breaking the American record at the time. She was inducted into the University of Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame.

She has served on the USATF Women’s Track and Field committee, Diversity committee, Background screening committee, Law and Legislation committee, and as an AAC Liaison. She has served on several USATF international teams, providing managerial and staffing assistance, including as Pool Manager for the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships Team; Pool Manager for the 2007 IAAF World Championships Team; Pool Manager for the 2008 Olympic Team; Head Manager for the 2009 Junior Pan American Team; Pool Manager for the 2009 World Championships; Event Manager for the 2011 World Championships; 2012 Olympic Team Event Manager; and 2015 World Relays Event Manager, and 2016 Olympic Team, Event Manager.

She has two children, Gentel and Javarus.
